In my post ‘How to create a WordPress account’ I mentioned at the end that you needed to fill in your details into your personal account. Here is how:
Log into your WordPress account and bring down the hanging menu and select ‘Edit My Profile”:
And it will go to:
Here you fill in the fields with the information you know and wish to share. Once you’ve finished, don’t forget to click on the ‘Update Profile’ button.
Then you click on ‘Personal Settings’ in the left sidebar and you go to:
This is where, in the past, you would have been able to get your API password to activate Akismet, but now you have to join Akismet and pay for it.
Pan down to fill in the rest of the fields with the information you know and wish to share, and note that this is where you change the password for your login details:
Don’t forget to click on the ‘Save Changes’ button.
Now go back to ‘My Profile’ (link in the left sidebar) and we will upload or change your Gravatar, which you can see in the top right:
Click on the ‘Change your Gravatar’ link to go to the Gravatar website:
Click on ‘Upload a new image from your computer’ if that is where you have your desired photo stored:
Select the appropriate file and click on the ‘Next’ button:
Adjust the cropping application to your desired effect by dragging the corners, and click on the ‘Crop and Finish!’ button:
Choose your desired rating by clicking on the relevant selection:
Select the email address you would like to use, and click on the ‘Use for selected addresses’ button:
And if you do this many times to upload different versions of your Gravatar, there is the option to choose which one you prefer.
Now you have successfully uploaded your Gravatar you can use it all over the web, but the most prominent places you will see it will be in the browser field next to the URL, the browser tabs next to the title of the pages, and whenever you comment on another blog, your contribution will be accompanied by your Gravatar!
