4 easy ways how blogs can make money in 2020
This is a guest post.
Nowadays countless ambitious individuals are beginning to discover another way to make money. Their wish is to abandon their nine-to-five jobs in favour of something more flexible.
If you’re sick of your traditional career, you might want to start an online business of your own instead. You could easily launch your own blog or website, and look for ways to make cash from your online presence.
The first option for those who don’t have a lot of money to spend would be to use a blog as your source of income. Especially if you don’t have the option to ask your bank to extend your overdraft.
It’s not expensive to set up a blog. As successful blogs can make money, all you need is the right plan for how you’re going to monetise your new content platform.
Here are 4 easy ways how blogs can make money in 2020.
1. Explore the benefits of CPM and CPC ads
One of the most common ways blogs can make money is to simply insert adverts for other companies.
There are two ways to do this. You can either use cost per click ads, which pay money every time someone clicks on one of your ads.
Or you can use CPM ads which will only pay you per 1,000 impressions. The benefit here is that you don’t need someone to click on your advertisement to start making money, but you do need a lot of visitors to your blog.
There are plenty of websites that can help you to begin monetising your blog through CPC and CPM ads, but the best-known option is definitely Google AdSense.
Using Google’s solution means you won’t need to be in direct contact with advertisers. Instead, you simply place a banner on your site, and Google will choose an ad which is relevant to that content.
2. Sell private ads to companies
You may like the idea of working with ads and ad space, but you’re not interested in working with advertising networks. Now it’s worth considering blogs can make money also through private ads.
If you get enough traffic, advertisers will come directly to you and ask to place their ad on your blog. You could even make money by creating directory lists for specific types of company that are related to your niche.
Selling private ads can come in the form of placing banners and buttons on your blog. Or you could offer your companies a chance to advertise on your website with a guest post, or have their name mentioned in one of your articles.
You can even write a post or series which is “brought to” the customer by a particular brand. However, this monetisation method will only succeed with a popular blog brimming with repeat visitors.
The more attention your blog gets, the more money you’ll make from private ads.
3. Use affiliate advertising
Another excellent way blogs can make money with an online business is through affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing means you get involved with advertisers who have products or services they want to sell. You write a blog post or a piece of content which links back to that product or service with a special tracked URL.
Your aim is to get your blog visitors to click on your affiliate link. Then if they decide to buy the product or service, your affiliate partner will give you a monetary bonus for your hard work.
It often takes quite a bit of time and effort to make money from affiliate links. But you can build a reputation and start to get some significant cash from this strategy in the long-term. You can even create private partnerships with specific businesses and advertisers as your website grows.
4. Sell your own products
Finally, if you really want a taste of the entrepreneur lifestyle, consider going beyond your blog and start selling your own products or services.
This means using the content you’ve created on your blog to advertise your own solutions instead. This can be eBooks and online webinars or items that you make and ship out from the comfort of your own home.
Selling your own products and services takes a lot more time and focus than the other options mentioned above. This is when you may need to quit your day job and concentrate on your online business 100%. However, for some people this is the perfect option.
