Pretty much everyone has now woken up to the realities of marketing via social media. Whether you blog for fun, or hope to eventually make some money from it, it’s important to secure as many followers as possible to get where you want to be.
Social media is a great way of doing this, and Instagram is one of the most popular choices. Instagram offers a flexibility that is lacking from most other social media programs. It allows you to go that step further in promoting yourself, and offering a curated image to the world via:
- A choice of pictures
- A carefully crafted bio
- A regular turnover of content
Keep turning over your content
A regular turnover of content is essential when it comes to bring in new followers. If you simply allow things to stagnate on Instagram, people are quickly going to lose interest.
This applies to just about any form of marketing or promotion. However, this doesn’t mean that you need to post carefully crafted posts every day. It simply means that you should provide your followers with enough material to feel like they are keeping up with you.
This can be both images or pieces of text. If you’re simply using your Instagram as a means of bringing people to your blog, you should probably be putting more effort into the blog itself rather than the instagram page. But content on your Instagram content can complement each other and put forward an image of a well created social media presence.
Set up an impressive Instagram bio
You should also make sure that you put a fair amount of time into arranging your permanent bio and images.
You’re going to want something that sounds exciting and unique, and gets your readers interested in following you. A good profile picture is also a must. This is going to be the first thing that people see when they check out your page, and could have a major effect on how they view your content.
Once you’ve added enough content and images to attract interest, you should consider how you are going to turn their traffic towards your blog. You could use links to direct traffic from your Instagram page to your blog. This will stand you a good chance of increasing your traffic.
Build a larger Instagram network
Another good practice is to follow people with similar interests, or who live near to you. By making yourself part of a wider online community, you can start talking to people who may be interested in your blog.
Instagram is a user friendly program, and it’s easy to communicate with people, including following and exchanging ideas. Use Instagram as a genuine network, rather than a way for you to direct people to your own work. You’re going to need to give as well as take.
Make an effort to check out the blogs and content of the people you’re trying to friend, and leave positive comments and feedback on their pages. Then they’re likely to be only too happy to return the favour, and bring some all important visitors to your own blog.
